Meetings
Meetings - Friday, January 15, 2010

Hello potential new members and sponsors.

We hold our meetings every Wednesday afternoons in room 101 after school at 2:10 PM every week. Now we are in build season, so we meet every Monday and Friday, and occasionally Saturday.

For sponsors, we are at Paradise Valley High School if you didn't already know that.

Come on in and see what we are about today!

About FIRST

…to create a world where science and technology are celebrated…where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes…”  Dean Kamen, Founder

“It's like life. There's never enough information.  Never enough time. There's always competition and you need a strategy. We've created a microcosm of the real engineering experience.”  Woodie Flowers, Co-Founder

The FIRST Robotics Competition combines the excitement of sport with science and technology to create a unique and entertaining sport for the mind. FRC helps high school students discover the rewarding and engaging process of innovation and engineering.

Students can:
» Design, build and program robots
» Qualify for $8 million in scholarship funds
» “Play with the Pros” and work with professional engineers

FRC is a fascinating, real-world, professional experience and helps students see the value of education and careers in science, technology, engineering and math.

We Made It!!!

We've raised enough to go to Regionals this year! Thanks to the Arizona Science Foundation for their $2500 grant through FIRST, and thanks to everyone else who helped us to raise the money to go. We now know our game and are working on our robot, but we are still fundraising to get money to go to Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia.

About Our Team

Team 1165 is a group of approximately 20 Paradise Valley High School (Phoenix, AZ) students and proud members of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). Every year we face the challenge of raising over $5000 to participate in the Arizona Regional First Robotics Competition (FRC). Then, we have only six weeks to design and build our robot for the competition.

If our alliance wins the Regional Competition, we will then be required to raise $5000-$6000 to participate in the National Competition in Atlanta, Georgia. This does not include money for the flight there and back, the hotel we stay at, or money for any food.
